My favorite recording of Bach's lute works

"I have a number of recordings of Bach transcriptions for classical guitar, but this is one of my favorite. Schmidt is an unusually nuanced player whose interpretations demand the listener's full attention to really appreciate. I highly recommend this recording to anyone who likes to listen to various interpretations of the same work by different artists because I think Schmidt has a unique level of detail to offer. Because of Schmidt's limited recordings, I will also recommend Tilman Hoppstock's Bach interpretations in addition to Schmidt."

"I absolutely adore these CDs. The sound of the Guitar (a ten string version) has a depth and warmth that is astonishing at first and may spoil you when you return to versions on the standard guitar. The playing is refined and extremely well articulated. I have many other solo guitar recordings but this is easily my most played set. If you want Bach on Guitar this is the very best."

"I'm shocked, I'm speechless, never thought that Lute Suites can sound soooo good.

Listened three times one after each other and still amazed.

I'm throwing away my whole collection of Bach" Lute Suites after listening to this one.

This is the one to keep."
