CD Reviews

This is a great harpsichord CD-- really unique!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Robert Edward Smith plays a type of harpsichord that hasn't been around for a generation. Back in the fifties, harpsichords had a bunch of pedals, and lots of different sets of strings for all sorts of special effects. Never mind they didn't sound so great-- they had fantastic special effects! Mr Smith's instrument is built according to more recent ideas about the acoustical design of these instruments, but brings back all the bells and whistles of the bad ol' days. The result is harpsichord fireworks, like you'll find on no other CD. Just listen to the clip of the Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue, here on Amazon.com- it's the first cut. You'll see what I mean. The local university radio station gave it highest marks-- 'totally psychotic', raved the DJ."
