Title: A Charlie Brown Christmas: The Original Sound Track Recording Of The CBS Television Special Artist: Vince Guaraldi Trio Label: Fantasy Original Release Date: 12/9/1965 Date: 12/10/2011 |
This is must for any collection. Wonderful interpretations of classics and the rest are perfect as well. Christmas is not the same without this. It's the only Christmas album that is playable all year round!

Some idiot reviewer claimed that Klaatu was ripping off Queen. Hardly. This is too silly for that. It's basically the soundtrack to an unknown kids sci-fi story. Queen wouldn't get around to that till Flash.
The important thing is that this is just really fun to listen to. Unlike other bands whose pomposity inevitably distracted from their melodicism, Klaatu stuck with poppy tunes. Yes the orchestral arrangements are so over the top, but so what? Fun fun fun. This will bring a smile to your face. Pompous is not always pretentious!

This is a good disc but not much better than the original legend.

I am so tired of reviewers knocking this band. They just don't get the. their not a serious band laying serious music. It's lightweight fun pop. The only problem if anything is overly squeaky-clean tight production. It sounds like everything was overdubbed. (Which of course it was..)
Klaatu to me is really the worlds greatest kids rock band. The second half of this album is delightful. Listen to it with your kids today.

Pet Sounds is the most overrated piece of garbage ever. Only in the most superficial way, in production values, is any ground broken.
Melodies? What melodies? Only "God Only Knows" has a real melody. "Wouldn't it Be Nice" is just simplistic. Sloop John B is a cover. Everything else is meandering and unfocused. Like bad jazz minus the swing.
Brian Wislson's voice is limited at best.

It is a decent collection, with a nmber of tracks that don't make it onto other collections. However this should have been a 2 disc set at most.
