The Zydeco Flames have gained the reputation as the West Coast's premiere Zydeco band. Their sizzling roots rhythms are timeless and the execution is relentless, with a stunningly powerful groove and playlist that includes originals and select covers in the genres of Zydeco, Cajun, New Orleans R&B, Rock and Swamp-Pop. This, the Flames' seventh CD release, Fire Dance, showcases the recent live club performances in Berkeley, California that provided fans with hot Zydeco music they've come to expect from the Flames, in the tradition of the great masters like Clifton Chenier, Buckwheat Zydeco, and Queen Ida. Featuring the soulful, steamy style of classically-trained singer/rubboardist/harpist Lloyd Meadows, the cajun & piano accordion and keyboards of Bruce Gordon (noted California performer who played on Ramblin' Jack Elliott's Grammy-nominated album), guitarist Frank Bohan with musical roots deep in Chicago blues (worked with Johnny Copeland, Alvin 'Youngblood' Hart, Ricardo Scales, and Johnny Nitro), and the tight & funky rhythm section of bassist Tim Walker (worked with J.J. Malone, Sista Monica, Bobby Murray, Andre Thierry and The Elvin Bishop Band) and drummer William Allums, with deep roots in gospel music, hip-hop, funk and R&B.
