Synopsis

Product Description
FRENCH IMPORT - "All tracks on Purr have originally been composed for choreography. Laurent Perrier, the mastermind behind Zonk t, has reconstructed the tracks for his third release to make it a coherent album to listen to. And he definitely succeeded in that. The musical outbursts of the Frenchman are very minimalistic and could best be categorized as ambient. The fact that he uses only minimal sources and sounds for his creations doesn t mean that the tracks are boring, predictable or easy. Overall, Pur is nice and pleasant to listen to and the album ripples like an idyllic stream. But songs like Equation Part.2 really get under your skin, due to the rapid and repetitive pulses. Also the eighteen minute track Equation Part.3 is very hypnotizing. The Equation songs fill up most of the Pur album: Part 2, 3, 5 & 4 are all present on the track list. The sounds Zonk t uses sometimes remind me of Kraftwerks early years: listen to the weird computer bleeps in for example Ohm 05 Part.1 and Ohm 05 Part.2 . Associations with the Radio Activity album keep popping in my head. But creations like these also remind me of sound artists like Taylor Dupree. Aquafish reminds me more of ambient artists like Bola, especially because of the heavenly, unearthly keyboard playing. Closing song Look Part.6 could easily feature on a Biosphere release. Next to being a very good minimal ambient release, I was very delighted to notice that Pur is interesting to listen to, even if you haven t got a single clue as to what the dance productions would look like."
