"I had the pleasure of first learning about Ziskakan at an outdoor concert in Washington, D.C. in, I think, 1994. They were new to me, but their energy on the stage demanded that I not leave without buying their CD (and you know how expensive at-concert purchases can be!). I've never regretted that decision. The music is powerful-- with deep African drumming, stellar vocal sound (they may be singing in French, but I am not sure honestly) and exhilarating, danceable rhythms. I am not a music critic (as this review no doubt shows) but I would assert that this Ziskakan release is a more-than-worthy addition to any "world music" collection."
