CD Reviews

This is nerve jazz ...
Alex De Visscher | Calgary, AB, Canada | 08/18/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"If you enjoy music that drives other people up the wall, this might be an album for you. If you're the one who is easily driven up the wall, stay away from this album. Although this music is a mixture of styles, "nerve jazz" probably captures the atmosphere best. It's a largely instrumental album. X-Legged Sally is clearly influenced by Frank Zappa, so a possible analogy is to be found with him. Imagine the line-up of Zappa's "The Grand Wazoo", playing a 47-minute version of Zappa's "Echidna's Arf (of you)" on speed. If that's your idea of a good time, you should try this album, 'cause it's a really brilliant one."
Another brilliant album by XLS

"This album, produced by the legendary Bill Laswell, is wonderful, inventive jazz music making use of over 7 instruments. This belgian group was one of the best while they were still together. I also suggest checking out "Slow Up" and "Eggs & Ashes," their other albums."
