"This was a very good album featuring vocals Bea Van der Maat.
I saw a video for Hungry Heart (not the Springsteen song) on MTV in 1991. I went out a bought the CD the next day. It wasn't easy to find; there were 2 copies at my local store but I did trip over a lot of Paula Abdul discs the clerk was putting out (remember her?)
Won Ton Ton's debut features varied vocal styles but not so varied as to be jarring.
It's mellow pop and few ballads. There are strings on some songs.
Track 2 "Nothing" has a great vocal that reminds me of Chrissie Hynde and some pleasant guitar work.
Track 3 "Hungry Heart" is an upbeat track with great vocals, Saxophone and Keyboards.
Track 4 "Can I Come Near You" has a soft vocal and strings.
Track 5 "Hide and Smile" recalls Romeo Void with it's Sax and Vocal. It's a mover.
Track 6 "Warm Love, has Keyboards and Heavy Percussion. I never skip this one.
Track 7 "Walking on a Wire" recalls the Waterboys.
Is that the problem with this album? She sounds too much like someone else? I am not certain. I have played this album from time to time over the years. I recommend looking for it if you like groups of this nature.
