Synopsis

Album Description
"Each precise combination of drawing room piano, gossamer guitar, whispering percussive noise, and human voice is distinct from the last, but each asks to be listened to at night, with hands and legs folded." -- DUSTED Once every big blue moon you hear an album that makes you feel as if you'd just stepped out of a crisp morning shower--emotionally refreshed and completely revitalized. You can't explain why the impact of this record is so intense, and you don't have to. Women and Children can handle that. Paralyzed Dance Tonight, Women and Children's new full-length, bounces freely across the world. With eighteen glorious tracks, it showcases a wide variety of folk-pop panorama. The album may remind one of The Velvet Underground's legendary sessions with Nico; vibes rich in park life activity and partly cloudy journal entries. Women and Children began their existence when Californian Kevin Lasting crossed paths with Canadian Cheryl June Serwa. After jotting his telephone number across the length of her forearm, a love affair was born, spontaneously relocating the couple to Paris. Soon they united with fellow American/old friend Jamie Moon and new French pal Olivier Robert. The four joined forces in concocting an almost endless roster of tunes; songs that ended in the right hands and ultimately landed the band a supporting spot on Cat Power's UK tour and a personal selection by Vincent Gallo for his All Tomorrows Parties Festival.

CD Reviews

Nick drake meets m. ward
Ryan Dendinger | 11/17/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a classic example of melancholy folk. If you are a fan of M. Ward, Nick Drake, Josh Ritter, Mason Jennings (think earlier albums), little wings, etc. you need to at least give this album a listen. Every song takes a piece of the past and turns it into the future. Make sure you listen to Virginia Creeper and Rolly Fingers. I promise... if you like the above artists, the whole album is worth the buy."
