Another classic from Willie Colon

"What can you say about Willie Colon & Hector Lavoe. The Dream Duo of Salsa. I love this album. I was born in 1976, so I obviously have no recollections of that era, add to that the fact I live in Sydney Australia. But there is no doubting that the salsa from this era was at its most vibrant, original, and brilliant. And there is also no doubting that Willie Colon (with Hector Lavoe) were its greatest proponents. Anyone wanting to hear salsa at its best needs to listen to the 70's albums of Colon & Lavoe, stuff like Cosa Nuetra, Juicio, La Gran Fuga (Big Break), etc. The modern day salsa has its place, Marc Anthony's albums are very good. But if you want the best you put on a 70's salsa album. Simple as that!On this one, has some of the classics Barrunto, Panamena, Abuelita... I played this for my cousin (who was in his teens during the era) from Peru and it brings back memories for him of our uncle who used to bring in the latest salsa albums from New York and then play them at parties in Callao. I wish I had been there."

"This was around the time when SALSA didseem brighter than the stars at night.I was around 14 years old when WillieColon and his band played the dance hall called Temple Hall.Me and my buddyJones hung out at the front door of theplace because we had no cash, but wantedto get into the dance somehow?Big Breakhad only been on the AM radio for a fewweeks. The band arrived late in severalcars packed with equipment.I askedMr.Colon if we could help unload thegear? He agreed! We got into the dance for free after all!Great guys, greatalbum and hell yeah, they rocked thehouse."
