CD Reviews

The Whitehead Brothers made a little hype in '94

"The Whitehead Brothers came onto the music scene with the hit "Love is a 187" in which had a Jodeci sound to it that made some headlines in '94. Their next hit "Forget I Was A 'G'" was a hit off of the Jason's Lyric soundtrack that score some good reviews but other that this group was not heard from again until they released a CD single "Feel Your Pain" from their forthcoming album at that time that did not get released. Most of the production was done by Kenny Whitehead. You would have thought that this group was from the west coast with their sound but they hailed from Philadelphia and are the sons of '70's singer John Whitehead. My favorite tracks on here is "Sex On The Beach", "Turn U Out", & "Love Goes On". Also they have a very nice track that no on paid attention to called "Beautiful Black Princess" which is paying respect to those women who stood for taking care of home and raising their children when times got tough and those that struggled but survived, check that song out. Overall, very good cd and I will give it 4.5 stars."
PURELY UNDERRATED!!!!

"Okay, it's been 4 years since the last review was posted on here. But I'm gonna resurrect this one. It's been 15 years since this release, and for me it was right up there with the rest of those other cats out at the time. It's too bad these cats didn't get the love they deserved for this effort, but we all know how fickle the music business can be...regardless of your relation to 1/2 of the duo responsible for the birth of Philly-Soul. This album, was and is definitely a contender. From East and Westcoast Hip-Hop bangers like Shaniqua and Forget I was a G to bedroom pleasers for the ladies like 187, Turn U out, and Sex on the Beach. I hate using the term "Fell Off" cause again I'm fully aware of how things can go in this business. But I look forward hearing something new from cats again. In the meantime, this is definitely a "must-have" to add to your collection. You won't be sorry. 5.0 rating all the way"
A solid album and highly recommended, a pity there isn't a s

"This duo delivered an album with some great loveballads like: She needed me, Turn U out and Love goes on. And the songs: Forget I was a G and Your love is a 187 (kind of a ballad).

Some songs on the cd are less than the aforementioned material but it is one of my favorite cd's to pop in and listen to some fine (and sometimes very useable) lyrics.
