CD Reviews

Whiteberry is an excellent band!!
Vinnie the Squid | Vancouver, British Columbia Canada | 01/24/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Whiteberry is an excellent example of what a Japanese Pop band should sound like...Their style is basically Grunge/Pop/Hard Rock...grittier sounding than Morning Musume or even Folder5, yet the songs are still very cutesy. The cool thing about them is, they play their own instruments, very talented girls. There's no real deep meaning to their songs, and why should they sing about something that heavy? They're just teens and preteens singing and sounding cute...uh...in a grungy Rock & Roll sort of way. LOL. They're no longer together but this CD will keep the memory of Whiteberry alive so future generations can also enjoy their music as much as I have."
Strong Debut
Vinnie the Squid | 11/25/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Hatsu shows Whiteberry's propensity for playing up-tempo pop/rock gems with strong beats and stronger hooks. This CD would be an impressive debut for any band, but the fact that these girls check in at 15-16 years of age is even more impressive. Producer Yoshihito Onda (of Judy And Mary) has helped Whiteberry forge a sound reminiscent of the Go-Go's during their latter years. Standout tracks include "Natsu Matsuri" and "Yuki." Highly recommended."
