Synopsis

Album Description
? When the components of this New England jazz supergroup came together on a single night in front of a live audience to record this album the sparks genuinely flew! ? Recorded live 3/3/00 at Hawthorne Country Club in Dartmouth, MA by Lloyd Jacobsen and Rick Smith of Woodfish Studios in Westport, MA ? All of the members were long-time associates of the late saxophonist and teacher Bobby Greene, and the music that the Superband creates is inspired by this great leader ? Songs played during this live performance were all originals, written by Andy McWain, Rick Britto or band members. ? Features a mix of smooth jazz with groove and a bit of Latin flavor, pulled together by intense playing and freedom to solo.

CD Reviews

Killer Wail
Mary Georgis | Providence, RI United States | 11/03/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album is a real jem. Each and every track is something electrifying or deeply stirring; many of the titles are original compositions by the musicians themselves. These players are real artists in every sense of the word, with astounding control over their instruments. They've been playing together for decades, some of them, and the sound they produce is accordingly mature and sophisticated. It's a real treat to listen to this album. O.Pandolfi's ballad B Blue, B Greene, B Gone, named after the late Bobby Greene is especially stirring."
