CD Reviews

AMAZINGLY ORIGINAL - AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Welle:Erdball is a german synthpop/retro/analogue electronic group using the synthesized sounds of the famous Commodore 64 computer to create catchy and fun electronic songs. The band consists of a guy and a girl, and they have a strong cult following in germany where they perform pretty often.

This is definately their best CD and it contains some of their best songs. To most people this type of music will sound like something like a "video game" soundtrack to a Nintendo game, but the music is much more complex as they sing in the songs and the music is mixed with modern equipment so it's a mix of the retro music but with modern effects and instruments.

The music is in german, but even if you don't know a word of german you should check this CD out if you are a fan of techno music.

What I love about this group is their originality. There's nothing in the world quite like this type of music and it's a breath of fresh air.

To preview some of their songs I recommend you listen to one of their flag ship songs "Nyntando Schock" as it is very catchy and represents very well what type of band this is. This particular version of Nintendo Shock is an older one and I would recommend downloading their latest one Nyntaendo Schock II (Lezte Strufe), which is a great song and one of their best.

The music is very complex though, like I was saying, the songs vary in a great deal. There are slower songs, faster songs. Etc.

Anyway, if you are into new things and like electronic music I would definately give this a try!"
