Synopsis

It's not surprising that Warren Hill has made his biggest splashes with movie performances. The 28-year-old saxophonist was responsible for "The Passion Theme" from the Body of Evidence soundtrack and played the sax solo on Big Mountain's "Baby, I Love Your Way" from the Reality Bites soundtrack. Even on his own new album, Truth, Hill sounds as if he's providing background music for an absent foreground. His instrumental tunes are expert at setting the mood, but then you keep waiting for something to happen. If you like easy-listening background music, though, you could do worse than Hill, who coaxes a thick, lustrous tone from his alto and soprano saxophones and who has a knack for simple, catchy melodies. Truth is Hill's first album since moving from L.A. to Nashville, and it features such top Music City session players as guitarist Dann Huff and keyboardists Matt Rollings and Robbie Buchanan. Nonetheless, even songs written about that transition ("Goodbye L.A.") and his new wife ("Tamara") are so bland that they could have been recorded anywhere by anyone. Geoffrey Himes

"Warren Hill ranks right up there with Sanborn, Koz and Kenny G. If you love beautiful recordings this is it. Thanks Warren! This one superb recording."
My favorite Warren Hill, and I own all his CD's.....

"While I've since bought all his other CD's, Truth remains my favorite. He has several songs that are just monsters, including cut #7, Knocking Down the Walls, which may be my all-time favorite sax song. If you enjoy smooth jazz sax music from artists like Sanborn, Kenny G and Candy Dulfer, you should have no reservations about adding this one to your collection.... Randy"

"Having seen Warren Hill in concert only confirms amazing musicianship. What caught my attention back in 1995 was the often

played"Tell Me All Your Secrets". This track is superb-especially

the great lead guitar by session man Dan Huff. The whole CD is just great. If you love smooth sax, you WILL absolutely love this

disc."
