Clara Ward's classic lineup!

"Marion Williams, Francis Steadman, Kitty Parham, Henrietta Waddy along with Clara Ward helped make up this classic vocal group. It is surprising that this recording found its way to CD at a time when classic Gospel goes almost ignored entirely. Would to Heaven ALL the Savoy sessions this group recorded were available! This is one heavy duty Christmas album, though. Just listen to the near death-defying harmonies these beauties demonstrate on It Came Upon A Midnight Clear. On this album they are backed understatedly by an uncredited choir. It complements the group's blending voices rather than distracts. A perfectly balanced sonic experience."
