Synopsis

Album Description
The debut CD from "the new voice of Deep South blues & roots"...Miss Wanda is an intense & vivacious singer who blends soul, blues, and gospel into a musical mix uniquely her own. Features 12 original songs (six penned by Wanda), backed by the seasoned band of Shrimp City Slim (harmonica, keyboards, and slide guitar shine through the mix). There's romance ("Always"), lust ("Can You Handle This?"), loss ("Airport Road"), memories of childhood ("The River"), and even a new salute to her blues mentors ("Finally Home"). Each tune is an emotional gem brought to life by MIss Wanda's impassioned vocalizing. An essential CD for anyone who loves a great woman blues singer tackling a cache of hot new material.

CD Reviews

Miss Wanda is the best!

"Gary Erwin discovered a gem in Miss Wanda. Bless us all that he did. I've seen her many times now. In fact, my husband plays sax with her and Shrimp City Slim on occasion and I've been fortunate to always be along. There will be a new CD released this year. They are recording it now. Be on the lookout for it.

Order this one and then the new one. You will listen to them both over and over again and be glad that they are in your collection."
Simply amazing...

"Miss Wanda Johnson is superb! I have now heard her sing in person three times, and each time I come away more impressed than before. She is a huge Blues talent! Hopefully she will produce many more CDs showcasing her immense talent. My only regret about this CD is that it doesn't include one of my favorite songs, "You can have my husband, but please don't mess with my man!" :-) She really puts some ooomph behind that one in a live show. Wish it was here too, but maybe on the next CD!"
