"Originaly recorded in may and june of 1967, in Hollywood, California we can have now on CD this special record. Good brazilian rhythm, this record have instrumental bossa music, with traditional songs like O Barquinho, Minha saudade, Wave, Ela e carioca, you will have a very good moment, hearing the electric organ of Walter Wanderley and other very great musicians like Marcos Valle and Dom Romao."
Bossa Nova Monster at his Apex
Papetti | Mexico City | 09/09/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Walter Wanderley was at his apex when this album was originally released in 1967, and we are so fortunate that these Japanese remastered issues are now available.

Batucada has a very interesting combination of Bossa Nova tunes as well as some that at the time, started to be categorized as Bossa Jazz; many of them with different tempos, but all of them with the same and distinctive claim-to-fame organ seal of master Wanderley.

Cuts like O Barquinho, Wave and Jequibau are Bossa Nova classics, that pretty much can only be found here.

Cuts like Batucada and Os Grilos (both written by Marcos Valle) are the perfect example of rhythmic Bossa Jazz that Walter Wanderley became famous for.

The guests for this awesome recording are:

- Walter Wanderley / Organ, Piano and Arrangements

- Marcos Valle / Guitar and Arrangements

- Jose Marina / Bass (original member of the Rain Forest and Cheganca albums)

- Dom Um Romao / Drums

- Paulinho / Drums

- Sebastiao Neto / Bass

- Lu Lu Ferreira / Percussion

- Tayla Ferro / Vocals

- Claudio Miranda / Vocals
