Synopsis

Product Description
Wallace Coleman was the only harmonica player ever invited to perform with the late great Delta Blues guitarist, Robert Jr. Lockwood, a 2008 Grammy winner. Coleman spent 10 years with Lockwood before leaving to form his own Wallace Coleman Band, eventually issuing 3 CDs on his own label and garnering critical acclaim ...one of postwar Chicago's most indomitable torch bearers. While performing in England, he met British Blues musician Dave Thomas who had his own pathway of musical experiences, including having performed for Sir Paul McCartney. Thomas is a Blues purist who plays an easy but captivating blues guitar. His songwriting and vocals are featured predominantly on this disc as he takes the lead. As Special Guest, Coleman brings 3 originals and some unique cover work as well. His strong vocal and harp work pair well with Thomas's easy style in both voice and instrument. The genres presented in this two disc set span folk/country blues (Coleman covering Leadbelly's Midnight Special), traditional Chicago (Little Walter's You Better Watch Yourself), Delta Blues with each paying homage to the late Lockwood in songs from his catalog penned by Lockwood's mentor, Robert Johnson. Thomas performs Kind Hearted Woman accompanying himself on slide guitar. Coleman covers Steady Rolling Man with an easy Chicago style rhythm that pairs wonderfully with his masterful vocal and harp work. Original works by Thomas venture into contemporary Blues (Repossession Blues, Person to Person). Some Thomas works were penned while in the States and reflect his creative take on experiences here (the slow Sweet Black Angel from a night at a blues club) and Person to Person (citing the frustrations of modern technology while traveling from one country to another). This two CD set offers something for every Blues lover.
