Synopsis

Product Description
Wake Robin is modern rock grown from the fertile ground of the Pacific Northwest's Willamette Valley and nurtured by a climate that also fed the sonic streams of bands like The Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam. While the music is the hearty hybridization of hard rock and power pop born of grey skies over green fields, songwriter Brody Lowe's lyrical sensibilities are firmly planted in the dark, rich, soul-searching soil of the classic Americana that sprouted giants like Johnny Cash. Wake Robin is not typical, garden-variety indie-rock. March, 2008 brings The Taker. Produced by Joel Albrecht and Wake Robin, and recorded by Joel at Crowded Little Office Space Studios, and at Don Ross Productions, in Eugene, Oregon, The Taker is the story of life the good, the bad, the things that might have been, and everything we wish to be. It is a story seeded in dreams, steeped in tradition and brought to fruition by the combined musical talents of guitarist and vocalist Brody Lowe, bassist Matthew Slaughter, drummist Joel Albrecht and guitarist Kris Gillmore. Each member of Wake Robin carries with him a wealth of experiences that contribute to the cultivation of the band's sound. Brody performs with party monsters The Manimals, and records solo material under the moniker Bison Bison. Matt is currently also a member of Notions of Now. Joel has recorded with L.A. bands such as Jet Jaguar, The Obvious Wish and Jeff Goefrey. Kris played in a number of bands, specializing in everything from jazz to hard rock, in upstate New York before relocating to the west coast. These diverse backgrounds give the band, and The Taker, a broad landscape on which to proliferate. And Wake Robin will indeed be branching out again this year as The Taker takes to the road all across the northwest. Given the passionate response to past live shows (A web site comment describes the live performances as, "Wake Robin: Peaceful, fun-loving grooves crossed with a kick in the teeth!"), it won't be long until Wake Robin is winging its way around the world!
