"unfortunately this is only album of voodoo phunk which can be found in Turkey (and Amazon)! The type, the style is smt. different, and it also differs between the songs in the album. Some are great, experimental, cool drum'n bass songs; like Yikadi, Journey's Journal, when some are the fine examples of fusion-jazz, reggae (like Irie Shot) etc... But as a result you'll never get bored listening to Voodoo. So different types of wonderful songs mixed so professionally that listening to Voodoo is something like having lunch; you first get the soup then the main and lastly the dessert! Have one whatever you style is since everyone will find at least two or three songs for themselves..."
Lionize...an album to BE lionized...

"I was first exposed to Voo Doo Phunk via an IRMA records catalogue, which came with a Jestofunk CD. While the description of the group there doesn't really do the band any justice, I was intrigued enough to buy the first album, Carnivore. I was hooked, and bought Lionize upon its release. The group departs a bit from its mostly trip-hop/reggae stylings that the first release contained; this is a GOOD thing. There are still healthy doses of ragga vocals and dub textures here, but the band adds a more jungle to the album (track 2, which contains hypnotic, ethereal female vox), along with some secret agent-stylee grooves and beats, a la Thievery Corporation/Thunderball. The horn charts on this album are once again top-notch, and the group even takes the classic Steely Dan tune "Do It Again" and does it one better....Becker and Fagen should be proud...and afraid...very afraid. Make sure you listen for the Star Wars probe droid samples contained on track 5, a fear-inducing, didgeridoo-laced tone poem, set upon a drum n' bass canvas. I can't really list all the accolades this band deserves in the space provided, but I can say this: If this group goes unnoticed by the masses, it will truly be a crime. The band understands where their roots are grounded, and at the same time has their sights set upon the future. The tune "Exodus" should make this perfectly clear. Lionize is a gorgeous album...c'mon, IRMA, we NEED a U.S. release!!"
