CD Reviews

Pre-Lucifer's Friend
Aron D. Rush | Cross Timbers, Mo usa | 08/05/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"For any fan of Lucifer's Friend, this is absolutely essential! Think along the lines of the first L.F. album, but less dark with a bit of 60's R&B flavor. You have the same line up as L.F. with the addition of vocalist Tony Cavanna, who swaps leads with John Lawton. They do some nice harmony vocals together over the wonderful music of Hecht, Hesslein, Horns and Reitenbach. Broken Home, Jump Into My Action, Open Up Your Mind and Corner Street Girl really rock, and Change In You and the beautiful Morning At My Dawn had quite an influence on Uriah Heep (just compare Morning with the track Here Am I on Heep's Lansdowne Tapes. Almost identical!). I'm sure there is some confusion about this listing, judging from the other two reviews and the artist. If the disc listed is the one pictured (w/apple cover) any fan of early L.F. and Heep should grab this while it's around. Excellent, melodic hard rock."

"This is a CD that any fan from asterix must have. I like it in every moment, and especially in the morning to wake up. Is fast, but sweet. The best Cd from an cartoon, certainly."
Classic Lucifer's Friend one year earlier.

"First off, this CD is extremely rare and hard to find. As of writing this review, there was only one available on Amazon. I am keeping my copy, which I purchased 7 years ago, until it is available as a remaster or digitally. Tracks 3-11 are amazing, and sound quite similar to Uriah Heep (as another reviewer noted). This would make sense however, as John Lawton was asked to join Uriah Heep in 1977 after David Byron got the ax. UPDATE: Feb. 9, 2010 - This CD is finally available as a digital download, so I suggest downloading it now that the CD version still remains scarce."
