CD Reviews

Strange compilation !
08/21/1999
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I really wonder what was the idea behind this compilation. all the Hits are not there, the sound quality on some track is just poor. For the good side, we have here 5 of the 8 track from Visage's third album "Beat Boy" , this album have never been released on CD but after all, it's really not the album of the century. This compilation also features the rare track "Der Amboss" (German version of "the Anvil") and this one is interesting because german language fit perfectly with the rawness of the music. Finally, they claim to have included the B-side instrumental "Motivation" , but the track on the compilation is certainly not the right one but a borring instrumental from an unknown band. So in short, if you are a Visage fanatic like myself, you will enjoy this compilation because it brings on CD five tracks from the "Beat Boy" lp + "Der Amboss" and it's still interesting to have these tracks on CD. If you are new to Visage's music , or if you just want to have all the singles on a CD, you should rather buy the "Fade to Grey singles collection" CD."
I want your cd, now!

"Who cares about the other hits? If you're a true fan, then you already have 'em a decade or more ago. I bought this compilation for the songs not found on other VISAGE compact discs, and I'm not talking about scratchy vinyl nonsense, either. There is no doubt; you need this one, too. Because songs like the "Question", "The Promise" and one of my favorite songs, "Only The Good Die Young", are essential. Let's skip "Motivation"... It's also nice they've included "Der Amboss" because I don't have to buy the tired compilation called "Past Future In Extreme". There's nothing STRANGE about this collection. If anybody doesn't like their copy, then sell it and make bucks! This CD goes for $$$ and up in auction sites, go figure!"
