CD Reviews

Vince Martin finally gets his due!
08/07/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album is incredible! Known mainly as partner-in-crime to the late, great Fred Neil (Everybody's Talkin') the Vince Martin story goes much deeper. After a lifetime of artistry mixed with a little hustle, Vince Martin has never sounded better. The voice has aged like a fine chianti, and the guitar playing, while excellent, never overshadows the singing. The songs themselves are masterpieces, chronicling his journey from "Brooklyn to Coconut Grove and Beyond!" Considering the struggles Mr. Martin has had with record companies and royalties over the years, it's amazing that this album is even available. That it was recorded independently is further testament to this man's incredible spirit. The album is a must have for any fan of Vince Martin's, any fan of his work with Fred Neil, and any fan of folk music in general. That it's an indie doesn't hurt either. Buy the album, at least he'll get paid this time around!"
