Tretiakov was a Russian powerhouse. And if crisp sterility is what you're looking for maybe this set is not for you. But if you want a violinist who has a full blown romantic affair with the music--charged, volatile, pleading, passionate--give this a try. Fine live performances through a broad repertory of solo, chamber and orchestral music from Baroque through early 20th Century. Highly recommended but move fast--this set not available from the publisher anymore and likely to be left to fade away."
