"A big Vern Gosdin fan who has been waiting a long time for a new recording by him, I was disappointed when I took a look at the song list thoughtfully provided by another reviewer of this release - "Back in the Swing of Things" is really just a re-issue of 1998's "Vern Gosdin, The Voice", found on BTM records. The good news is that this is a great traditional country music recording, regardless of what title it goes by. Amazingly, time has had very little impact on "The Voice", and Vern still sounds great. As an added treat, he introduces a very capable duet partner in Lacey Lynne, a gal who sounds as if she could be a distant cousin to Loretta Lynn, on four of the CD's twelve cuts. Another treat is Vern's reworking of "How Can I Believe You (When You'll Be Leavin' Me)" originally from his 1984 release "There is a Season" and an all-time country classic. All in all, regardless if the CD is called "The Voice" or "Back in the Swing of Things", this is a superb example of old fashioned country, and will fit nicely in any traditionalist's music collection."
