CD ReviewsA great Rigoletto captured on recording Ali Kashani | Toronto, ON Canada | 05/16/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "Louis Quilico was one of the great Rigolettos of the last century but he never had the opportunity to commercially record the role (or many others for that matter). This is a wonderful document of this superb baritone in his signature role. It's a live recording in good sound from the New York City Opera, conducted by Julius Rudel. Patricia Wise is a fine Gilda and worth hearing. Also, the recording captures a young Jose Carreras, in his brief but great prime, singing the Duke. Utlimately, the biggest reason to own this recording is the title performance by Quilico. His "Cortigani" alone is worth the price of the set."
