Synopsis

Product Description
Velcro Pygmies are the epitome of what Southern Rock is all about. Guitar, bass, drums and vocals, four part harmonies, blues/rock flavor, darlings of the critics and hell raisers alike. Larger than life, the South East's most powerful rock band, who bring the largest PA and light systems and the most exciting stage shows. This is the first CD released through retail distribution. During the past 12 months, they have sold 20,000 units of their last CD off the stage! 'Mona Lisa' hit the charts on many of the South East's radio stations and stood head to head with major label artists it shared rotation. Velcro Pygmies have written soundtracks for the motion picture 'The Babysitter' starring Alicia Silverstone. Global Entertainment used the song 'Undeniable', as the theme song for one of their pay-per-view events.

CD Reviews

Great but not the Pygmies
05/26/2004
(3 out of 5 stars)

"This is an amazing album however to me it isn't The Velcro Pygmies. The record is well produced, has plenty of hooks to sink your teeth into, and well crafted songwriting, but it made me think Black Crowes instead of "Larger Than Life Rock." If I wasn't such an avid Pygmie fan (been seeing them since I started college in 1999) I would love this record, but after experiencing the Pygmies live this album doesn't capture them. The packaging is 100% top flight and the DVD kicks major butt. It's everything I hoped for except it wasn't over the top like the Pygmies really are. My advice to anyone that is considering purchasing this CD: After listening to it, go and see the band live. Then you will truly understand where this review is coming from. The Pygmies are the last great hope. They have the ability to save rock n roll."

"...these guys are the absolute Best! And I believe this album proves it. This is a great cd to pop in when you are in the mood to Rock out and or Have a good time. And if you are having a bad day, it's even better to listen to because it will completely lift your spirits! The drumer is mind blowing (especially live!) the guitarist is so amazingly talented (Eddie Van Who?) the bassist lays down such strong and groove worthy rhythm and last but certainly NOT least is the Vocalist who is extremely gifted with what he can do on that stage and to an audience. He has a magical and captivating voice!Buy this cd and you will NOT be let down!!!!!!"
The ultimate party band records the perfect party album!!!

"Ah,the Velcro Pygmies. So much to say about this band. I have seen these guys like 30 times in concert. They have a name for people like us and it is appropriately named Pyg-Heads. Rest assured,if you are a fan of Aerosmith,AC/DC,Poison,Kiss,Bon Jovi,Def Leppard,or Van Halen then this is the band for you. Before I get into the review for this album, let me state that these guys play the covers of all these bands in concert in addition to their own material and they sound as close to the actual recordings as you will ever hear. As a long-time fan who has seen them in Panama City when they were playing at Club Lavela for spring break and now catches them when they appear in Tuscaloosa,Birmingham,Gulf Shores,or any other place I can get to,I was over-joyed when I heard the Velcro Pygmies were finally getting a chance to put out their music. After about 100 listens, I feel rady to offer my run-down of each cut and here goes:1.Life of the Party- Great way to kick off the album.Really gets you in the mood for this type music. 3rd fav song.
2.Mona Lisa- Nice, up-tempo song with some catchy lyrics.
3.We Ain't From Athens- Funny song where the Pygmies tell everyone they are a unique band because they do not hail from Athens,Ga as do so many(REM, B-52's,Drivin'N Cryin, and Collective Soul)
4.Far and Away- Not one of my personal fav's, but a good song nonetheless.
5.Love Machine- Cool song where the chorus really sticks in your head.
6.No Beverly Hills- My fav song on this album. Kinda reminds me of the Georgia Satellites Keep YOur Hands To Yourself. Good song to take the top down to.
7.When It Hurts It Hurts Like Hell- Sad song that really utilizies Cam's vocals.
8.Twisted- Another good top-down song with some cool guitar riffs from Blake.
9.Cam and George- A phone call convo between Cam(the lead singer)and funk master George Clinto that sets up the following song.
10.Undeniable- Very good, funky song that's good for bustin' a move to.
11.All I Want Is You- Simple, fun song with a good beat.
12.I Want To- Along with track #7, it is the other slow song. Very good ballad that is reminescent of a Poison or Bon Jovi love song.
13. Tattoo Angel- My least fav song on the album. It doesn't suck, obviously, because I gave the album 5 stars and that is rare. It's just the one I like the least.
14.Pussywhipped- The ultimate Velcro Pygmies' song. Hilarious, fast song that all men can relate to as it pertains to their,um, significant others. Most requested song at their concerts.
There are also 6 karaoke tracks that are a lot of fun for goofing around or for parties. Which brings me back to my headline about partying. The Velcro Pygmies sure as hell know how to do it with the best of them. Do yourself a favor and get this album. Chances are, you'll be glad you did."
