Synopsis

Product Description
Presenting '30 One Hit Wonders - US Country & Western' - a fun compilation of discs which provided the only significant Country & Western chart hit for their respective performer. This volume concentrates on the US Country & Western charts between 1949-1962 and features an eclectic mix of artists and musical genres, from Hillbilly to Honky Tonk, from Rockabilly to Countrypolitan, from novelty to death discs. Juxtaposes million selling, crossover Pop hits like Vaughn Monroe's original version of "Rider's In The Sky", Gene Vincent's menacing "Be Bop A-Lula", Wink Martindale's cheesy recitive "Deck Of Cards", Walter Brennan's similarly-crafted "Old Rivers'", The Fendermen's twangy "Mule Skinner Blues", The Rooftop Singers' Folksy "Walk Right In" and Bobby Edwards' lifting title track, alongside half-forgotten Country weepies like Betty Foley's "Old Moon", Billie Jean Horton's "Ocean Of Tears", Charlie Phillips' "I Guess I'll Never Learn", Earl Scott's "Then A Tear Fell" and Vernon Stewart's "The Way It Feels To Die". Also includes classic Answer Discs like Betty Cody's "I Found Out More Than You'll Ever Know", Jeanne Black's "He'll Have To Stay", Ralph Emery's "Hello Fool" and Jo Ann Campbell's "(I'm The Girl On) Wolverton Mountain". Many of these discs crossed over to the Top 100 where they repeated their success.
