"CD #l was outstanding but in this second concert, one gets to hear Muggsy Spanier, Sidney Bechet (shades of their Big Four), George Brunies, and on some sides, Jack Teagarden together. Brunies basically achieves the award of the best ensemble tailgate trombone in the business, to which he jokingly alludes in Concert #1. Again, he tries to outshine Muggsy and Sidney; and probably has never sounded better (reminiscent of when I heard him in Chicago in the late l950's). The Two Gospel Keys are a plus in their recreation of shouts and spirituals. This is the first time I've heard Cyrus St. Clair on tuba (string bass is his usual instrument). The selections are good, showcasing Brunies, and "Dippermouth Blues" as a finale with Muggsy and Johnny Windhurst on trumpets is a piece de resistance(sp?). Live concerts like these are a real treat!"
