"The Hypnos label produces ambient and electronic music from a wide variety of artists, such as: Steve Roach, Robert Rich, Jeff Pearce, Vidna Obmana, Lustmord, Alio Die, Jeff Greinke, etc.



This 1998 album is a 2-CD sampler with 19 different tracks, covering a variety of moods and artists (including Vidna Obmana, Robert Scott Thompson, Viridian Sun, and Meg Bowles); "atmospheric," and "spacemusic" are terms that come to mind when describing the album, which works surprisingly well as a "whole," despite the diversity of artists and pieces included. All of the pieces are recorded exclusively on this album.



Not all of the artists are "well known" in the genre (at least, not yet!); but this is an economical way to get to hear some up-and-coming ambient artists that you may not have otherwise encountered.
