They Missed a Good One!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Several years ago, a clever Executive at Warner Music Canada realized that there is a large and distinct market for CDs by Female Vocalists and Songwriters and the Best Selling "Women and Songs" Series of Compilations were born. Past Compilations have featured an ecclectic mix of Popstars, Rock stars, Folk Stars, even Celtic Music Performers. And there has been a good mix of well know stars like Madonna, Cher, Sarah Mclachlin, and Dido with lesser know up-and-comers so fans could discover new music and performers while enjoying their favorite songs & singers. This latest compilation is no exception. It features songs by Sheryl Crowe, Nelly Furtado, Sarah McLachlin, Melissa Etheridge, and Madonna as well as the lesser known Amanda Stott and Shaye. Pity the producers hadn't included "You Move Me" by Pop/Rock Singer Amber from her fantastic new "My Kind of World" CD. That song would fit this eclectic lineup perfectly. Actually, producers could have had their pick of tracks from "My Kind of World". The CD is packed with enough Singles to keep it in the charts for the next 2 years: from the Alt Rock infused "You Move Me" to the forthcoming Single "Voodoo", the Pat Benatar-esque "Just Like That" to the Whitney Houston Meets Pat Benatar Power Ballad "Sacrificial Lamb". Not to mention "City of Pain" and "Private War". My advice? Get BOTH "Women & Song 8" and Amber - "My Kind of World"."
