CD Reviews

A must have for real children of the fabulous 80's
Depeche221 | Indianapolis, IN USA | 11/14/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I see one person who gave this 1 star, and if you look at that persons other reviews, you wil see a theme of the type of music they like. It is all great classic 70's, 80's music at it was originally released. Notthing wrong with that and nothing wrong with liking the songs of your time, as they were, and nothing else.

I for one, like ALL types of music AND grew up in the 80's, but continue to like the remakes and new versions of classics.

If you were a fan of MTV's popular "Unplugged" series, will love this collection. Anyone who is a fan of remakes and re-interpreted versions of their teen anthems, will love this CDE. Ok, to be fair, they ARE NOT the songs you rememebr, instead, they are the songs that you loved, but now appreciate on a different level.

If you want the cranking classic sounds of our high school days (class of 87 here), keep looking, but if you want some great (some not so great but still enjoyable) flashbacks to youth with a new twist, get this CD. You may just find yourself back on the floor of your prom :)

"VH1 METAL MANIA is back with volume 2 and is just as good as the first. One reviewer gave it only one star which is kind of bogus, because NO cd deserves only one star i would even give Ashlee Simpson's albums more than one star out of respect, anyways whats diffent about the second one from the first is that its more of there big arena, loud screaming guitar solo rock hits STRIPPED down into an acustic form. On the first one it had the ballads witch almost sounded the same as the originals like L.A. guns and Slaughter songs they were almost idenical as the ones on the original albums, but on this one you get the hard rock songs in a totally diffent style. the way this album sounds if you where to go to your local bar on a dead Tuesday night, and see two guys on stage sittin on stools with two guitars and thats it. I would recommend this cd to anyone who grew up in the 80's and loved the hair bands back in the day and have heard there hits a million times like [round and round-RATT,here i go again-WHITESNAKE,once bitten, twice shy-GREAT WHITE....which are STILL great songs] played in a more melow bluesy kind of form, but if your a high school kid and you think the song CHERRY PIE was sung by POISON you probly wouldn't dig this album."
80's hair metal unplugged

"With Metal Mania Stripped Vol.2 you many 80's hair metal classics served up acoustically. While none of the songs improve upon the original versions, this cd does make for an enjoyable listen. The songs lose the powerful feel that many of the originals had and go for the intimate feel. Some of the highlights are: Here I Go Again, Talk Dirty to Me, Heaven's Tail, Once Bitten, Twice Shy. I didn't really care for Round and Round, done in this way, but for the most part this is an enjoyable cd. The cd will mainly interest fans of the 80's hair metal genre."
