Complex rhythm engineering and ambient texturing are brought into the spotlight of Modernlife. This dance-inducing compilation shows off Angelmoon's "He's All I Want" as its crown jewel. Woven with the ethereal guitar work, Moony's elated vocals are a perfect launch for the electric atmosphere of this album. But in no way does the adventure end there. The disc finds its climax traveling down an otherworldly highway at breakneck speeds with the euphoric remix of Moby's "Natural Blues." Other celebrity attractions that add up to a lively listen include the smoky spoken-word crackle of Underworld's "Push Upstairs" and the galactic abstractions of Mercury Rev's "Delta Sun Bottleneck Stomp (Chemical Brothers remix)." In a different vein, the glamour-funk overlay on Aphrodite's "B.M. Funkster" and Alex Gopher's "Time" brings an element of soul-groove into the mix.
