"this is possibly the best in a useless genre: tribute albums. most tributes are absolutely useless. why bother listening to covers of great material when you can get the original? i mean, jimi hendrix tributes??? WHY??? but then you've got this. these cover versions SHRED the originals. you cant fault sam the sam and the pharoahs. they were fun enough, if a bit innocuous. the wonderful folks at norton got together an unbelievable array of rockers to take sam's songs that much farther. having hasil adkins lead it off & make wooly bully, a classic of inanity, even MORE incomprehensible is a fantastic idea. and it just gets better. the high points are too many to list here, the tracks that dont quite cut it are over soon enough, and it all packs great rock and roll WOMPF! my personal faves are the covers by the lyres, devil dogs, handsome dick, nine pound hammer, a bones, teengenerate & the vacant lot, but theres so much more. my one grouse is the overabundance of similar sounding instrumentals, theres no need to pad this out. if you can find the vinyl, you get the mummies cover of "uncle willie". regardless, this is fantastic. dont you be L7 and buy this!!!"
