"On this album you can hear the players who made the Steel Guitar what it is today, the ones who developed the instrument itself, the tunings and the different styles of playing, from Country and Western Swing to Blues and Hawaiian. You'll hear Buddy Emmons and Jimmy Day who both played for Ray Price, Pete Drake, one of the most used session players in the 60's and 70's, Jerry Byrd and Leon McAuliffe, the early masters and Ralph Mooney who actively participated in the development of the West Coast Sound, playing for singers like Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and Wynn Stewart. The recordings were made in the 50's and 60's and originally issued on the Starday label. It's good to have this material available on CD!"
You can't get this on Amazon, apparently

"I ordered this from Amazon hoping to hear some cool old steel guitar.
Instead I waited for two and a half months and nothing happened. Finally I got an email from Amazon informing me that they could not find a supplier for this CD. This happened in the summer of 2005. Maybe things will change but don't count on it anytime soon."
