"EPIC FILM, the fourth disc in the BCI Music series GOLDEN CINEMA CLASSICS, is NOT a cheapie recording! It is an excellent recording by the BBC Orchestra, a formidable ensemble. Absolutely first-rate performances and beautiful, very "live" recorded sound. I have all four of the discs in the series and could not be happier with them. The others are:



1 - ADVENTURE FILM (James Bond, Lawrence of Arabia, The Great Escape, The Sea Hawk, etc.)

2 - LOVE STORY (Casablanca, Moulin Rouge, Limelight, Out of Africa, etc.)

3 - THE HOLLYWOOD MUSICAL (Annie Get Your Gun, Funny Girl, The Music Man, Gigi, etc.)



I found these all in cut-out bins back in 1998-99 and got them one at a time, not fully trusting that they were in fact as good as they seemed. They ARE that good. They have also been available in different packaging under a different series title: THE MUSIC OF THE SILVER SCREEN. That's how I have them. In that guise, this particular disc is entitled ACTION FILMS and it lacks the final selection from Arthur Bliss's Things to Come. The whole collection has also been available as a box set. It's worth it."
