"ADVENTURE FILM, the first disc in the BCI Music series GOLDEN CINEMA CLASSICS, is NOT a cheapie recording! It is an excellent recording by the BBC Orchestra, a formidable ensemble. Absolutely first-rate performances and beautiful, very "live" recorded sound. The recordings here of the James Bond Suite, The Great Escape, Patton and all the others are utterly thrilling; the orchestra particularly nails the little Korngold suite from The Sea Hawk. I have all four of the discs in the series and could not be happier with them. The others are:



2 - LOVE STORY (Casablanca, Moulin Rouge, Limelight, Out of Africa, etc.)

3 - THE HOLLYWOOD MUSICAL (Annie Get Your Gun, Funny Girl, The Music Man, Gigi, etc.)

4 - EPIC FILM (Superman, Star Wars, The Big Country, Gone With The Wind, etc.)



I found these all in cut-out bins back in 1998-99 and got them one at a time, not fully trusting that they were in fact as good as they seemed. They ARE that good. They have also been sold in different packaging under a different series title: THE MUSIC OF THE SILVER SCREEN. That's how I have them. The whole collection has also been available as a box set. It's worth it.

"
