The Native Writers Series of readings at the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) in Washington, DC features some of most engaging and provocative Native writers working today. To celebrate the fourth season of the Native Writers Series, the museum has released the first-ever CD anthology of Native writers reading from their works. The audio compilation features renowned Native authors, including N. Scott Momaday, Louise Erdrich, Simon Ortiz, Susan Power, and Joy Harjo as well as less familiar names. Alternately funny and moving, angry and contemplative, the recorded readings confront and comment on the Native American experience - including relocation, loss of language, and community survival -as well as universal themes of love, death, and family bonds. Together, they provide a wealth of Native voices that blend with and shape the literary traditions from which they arise.
