"This is a great album in a good series. The liner notes are thorough and serious -- this series as a whole is a excellent ethnomusicological guide to Greek traditional music. The performers are professional Greek studio types, playing in the style you'd here in small towns or in city clubs. The audio quality is likewise superb. The surprise is that this album is also very entertaining. There are stretches of solo percussion (including such oddities as "drinking glass and lamp cord" rhythms...), but the tracks also feature instruments and haunting vocals. I listen to it, and recommend it,more than I'd have thought when I bought it..."
