"This is quite an average collection of songs. The good songs are really good and the not-so-good songs are... not as good :o) The real standout songs on this one are Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game", Lisa Stansfield's "All Around the World", the Cars' "Drive" and Natalie Cole's "This Will Be"If you're looking for these songs, this will be a good purchase. But otherwise you're better off with something else."
I agree with the first reviewer here, with one addition.. ma

"Like the only other Amazon user review (so far), there are only about 4 songs I came to this cd for, and the other reviewer already mentioned them. Great minds thinking alike, etc. The main reason for purchasing this cd is to get what is likely to be the best mastered versions, i.e., the best sounding, of these particular songs released in cd format. This would also apply to all the other cds in this 'Night Moves' compilation series.

The well-respected sound engineer, Steve Hoffman, masters in such a way that brings out the best from the material, unlike the majority of hatchet jobs done on most popular music released for cd in the last 10-15 years, INCLUDING most remasters! But that is another long story. For this reason and this reason only, I was willing to spend about $6 for this cd, to get the best versions of the few songs here that I am fond of. Without his participation, I wouldn't have bothered, as most of the songs here aren't the least bit interesting to me. If I were to make one criticism of Hoffman's work in general, it's that much of it is dedicated to "classic" rock which has been so played to death on radio that I don't care how good he can make the music sound, I jut don't need to hear those songs anymore. Plus, he's mastered plenty of pablum. Great if you're interested in hackneyed adult-contemporary musical fare, but if your tastes run even slightly off the beaten path, chances are you won't ever find his name listed in the mastering credits. Oh well, we take what we can get. I gave this cd 4 stars, 2 for the material, and 2 just for his participation."
