"Bland attempt by 3rd generation New York (area) moshcore bands to duplicate the magic of the late 1980's NYC hardcore scene. While the new school bands on "New York's Hardest" desperately sought to establish themselves as being just as raw and rough as their forefathers (bands like Warzone, Youth of Today, Breakdown, Gorilla Biscuits) the end result was a whole musical scene devoid of inspiration, ANY originality or sense of direction. What you get with "New York's Hardest" are bands trying really, really hard to sound tough and angry, but without the originality, desperate fury or street credibility of the bands that spawned the earlier NYC hardcore scene. Spend your money on one of the earlier NYC hardcore compilations like "Where the Wild Things Are" or "The Way It Is"."
