CD Reviews

Not Bad
Boy | Ipoh-KL, Malaysia | 05/06/2003
(2 out of 5 stars)

"This is the compilation that was being talked about in the HC scene for years. It's an history of NYHC (88 era). All great band but except for one - Youth Defense League, a skinhead pro-america nazist bands and that's the bad part of this compilation."
Not a bad little comp
Gogol | England | 09/13/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Basically a comp of late 80s New York Hardcore with some classics here such as Warzones "As one" and tracks by Nausea and Supertouch 2 of probably the most underrated New York Hardcore bands ever.

Yeh the comp does include Blue Pride by Youth Defense League and they are pretty much well known as being (at least) fence walkers at worst a Nazi band that just hid their beliefs while in New york but had them pretty open outside.

Whatever the truth (and yeh, on their thanks sheet YDL do mention thanks to Skrewdriver so that should go some way to pretty much closing the whole "Are they arent they" debate) but there is nothing racist or far right on this comp. The YDL song is about working class pride.

Considering this comp was put together by guys from YOT and Revelation you would have thought that they would have been more responsible but oh well."
Very good CD

"if u like old school hardcore (PRE gangsta) the way hardcore SHOULD be ....you should get this CD. theres some great songs on here but they should have had 2 songs per band. some great bands like Breakdown only have 1....and it leaves u wanting more but overall this is a great CD. get it. some of my fave songs on this cd are "fallout" by Nausea, "sick people" by Breakdown and both Sick of it All songs.
