B Kraft | Palestine, TX United States | 09/30/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "I'm an audiophile, and I just purchased this compilation by Mapleshade Records. I have been heartbroken about the demise of Telarc -- especially their fine Super Audio CDs, but this is the very best sounding "regular" CD I have ever heard . . . and I own nearly 2000 of them. The artists -- Sunny Sumter, Kendra Shank, the ARC Choir, and Larry Willis among others -- are pleasures to discover or re-discover, for that is the difference between the quality of this CD and others. Chances are, your musical horizons will be broadened.
If you know and love "live-sounding" music, do yourself a favor and check this out. This is a great cross-section of mostly blues and jazz, with some acappela choir music thrown in. Every cut is a first rate performance by excellent musicians, and is recorded in a manner that optimizes the "illusion" of reality as only a top line stereo recording can. (I listen to all my SACDs in stereo, because I have yet to hear one that sounds as real as first class stereo.)
