Best Copy Of Last Kiss
10/07/1999
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I purchased this CD to get a decent sounding copy of "Last Kiss". Currently Last Kiss is also available on the "The Last Kiss Sessions" CD. However, the sound quality of Last Kiss on that CD is the worst I've ever heard for any song on CD. Here it is far superior. Last Kiss was never released in stereo. It is in simulated stereo here and the simulated affect sounds very pleasing.Other notes: Johnny Angel is the only song in true stereo on this CD. All the other songs are in mono and have the same simulated stereo affect, which is about the best simulated stereo I've ever heard. Not overwhelming, very subtle and pleasing. It Might As Well Rain Until September was copied from a vinyl record and tics and pops can be heard in the background. Too bad, finding a good copy of this early Carole King song is very difficult. It is also very difficult to get a clean sounding copy of "A Thousand Stars". However, here it sounds about as good as I've ever heard. Again, the simulated stereo is very pleasing for this song. See You In September and Goodbye Cruel World sound OK, but both are available in true stereo on other CD's."
