CD Reviews

I LOVE PARIS, INDEED
Darrell L. Lee | Jackson, MS | 03/03/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

""I Love Paris" was one of those CDs where I liked the case and immediately bought it(Silly, huh?). The CDs' record label was Water Music Records, which didn't surprise me at all (Have they cornered the market in compilation CDs?). It also didn't surprise me that "I Love Paris" was full of rare gems and outstanding music reminiscent of "Gay Paris." From beginning to end, I was yearning for more, and wanted to charter a jet to France after it was over...French music makes me feel good and glad to be alive, and the songs on these CDs do just that. They make you dance, stomp ya feet and clap ya hands. All I needed was a beret and one of those freaky French accents. Notable songs include the opening cut by Gotan Project, which captures the true essence of France..."The Day the Sun Exploded" will guarantee to get you moving and strutting your stuff like a runway model in Paris. "Bee Erotica" by Colorblind (my favorite)is a nice jazz cut with a thomping bass-line and beautiful piano accompaniment that gives the song substance. Other songs worthy of repeated play are those from DJ Sonic (definitely Parisian night life), David Grummel (hypnotic), Readymade (marvelous), Neon Funk (sensuous) and Rick Strom (what else can I say? The man is awesome!). "I Love Paris" definitely makes the "Paris Lounge" series seem [weak] in comparison because this is actually music that sounds like Paris. It takes you out of ze hussle and bustle of ze United States and into another country known for its food, fashion, music and rrromance,non?...Freaky French accent. Pretty good, huh?"

"Awesome cd to just hang out and chill to. It will put you in the mood for lovin' or just kickin' back. I dig both discs, all the songs. If you buy this disc be prepared to take a nice ride into your mind."

"Very good listening - reminds one of the earlier Hotel Costes series."
