CD Reviews

OK, so you won't know all the songs

"Sometimes,in the grip of nostalgia,I will turn to an oldies radio station to hear those great old tunes.I soon find, however, that a constant onslaught of these treasures can become a little tiresome, especially since stations tend to play the usual suspects. This collection not only includes the hits, including some rarely heard golden greats like "Everyone's Gone To The Moon", but also a bunch of songs that will be new to American listeners. Not all of these are gems but a good number of them are quite pleasant to listen to,resulting in an overall aural experience that is very enjoyable. In short, these CDs are FUN!"
Everyone's Gone To The Moon

"One of those rare 60's classics that you remember only after you have heard it reprised. This collection of rare gems is probably worth it, if only for the song which titles this review. Jonathan King probably performs one of the truely beautiful songs of my teen years. But this collection has songs even I don't remember.Still I find a cohesive-ness to the whole 3 CD collection through their "easy to listen to rock" sound, long lost to the meaner/raunchier world we live in. Each disc has its own booklet, which sadly is void of the information as to "whatever happened to..." that I love from the Rhino and Time-Life collections out there. Finally trust me, this has a collection of obscure sometimes and familiar at other times, tunes and singers that will only please the ear and educate the collector of 60's. BTW check out the Bob & Earl (?) version of Harlem Shuffle and Bobby Gentry's surprise version of I'll Never Fall in Love Again...who'd a thought? It's fun in a 60's kinda way."
