Synopsis

Album Details
Hed Kandi Kicks off 2005 with Another Addition to their Brilliantly Brooding Winter Chill Series. With an Acoustic Lo-fi Sound, Kandi Invites You to Hibernate, Not Migrate! "Winter Chill" Sees Kandi Back Away from the Dancefloor, Throw on a Winter Blanket and Indulge in Some Introspective Seasonal Adjustment Disorder. Fragile, Melancholy and Slightly Dark, this Set Reflects the Underlying Moodiness of Winter and Comes with Guaranteed Shivers, So Turn Up Your Collar and Prepare for Some Serious Chills... Avoiding the Obvious Saccharine Tracks that Constitute Typical Chill Compilations, Hed Kandi have Created a Unique ?chill? Concept and a Completely Unique Series in their Catalogue. Notable Tracks Come from Homegrown Hed Kandi Artists Peyton and Bonnie Bailey While Other Artists Make their Debut Hed Kandi Appearance Like Gaelle, Aya, and Even Birmingham-based Poet Benjamin Zephaniah!, Along with Old Friends Here Too, Namely Kaskade, Late Night Alumni, Kate Rodgers and Stonebridge.

CD Reviews

Kandi = Quality

"As Kandi fans know, anything produced by them is just naturally good. There are usually a few average tracks, a few good songs, and Always a couple stand-out, worth-the-price-alone songs that blow everything away. This album is no exception, however, compared to some of the other compilations in the Winter Chill series, this one doesn't come out on top.

I'll start by raving about the incredible, absolutely birlliant tracks. On disk one there's "Lullaby" "Breathe Me" and "Following". Other good ones on that disk include: "And I.." "Lullaby" and "Barely Here" There's also songs that are really good, but you just kinda have to be in the mood for them, like "Chile Con Carne" which is instrumental and bubbily.

Disk Two isn't quite as good as disk one, but still produces the goods, such as "Burning Up" which is a really good song with male vocals and "Blame it on the Moon" which is glorious song with a kind of western flare.

Overall, this compilation gets an A++ like all Hed Kandi compilations, but ranks 3rd out of my favorite Winter Chill albums. First goes to Winter Chill 06.03 and Second is Winter Chill 06.02"
Great mix of chill music

"I really like the cd. It had songs that I'd never heard of and made me really take a look at some artist I otherwise would've never even heard of. Great way to find up and comers."
I cannot get over how good these discs are...

"Seriously - i've said it all. Absolutely stellar. I thought nothing could top 06.02 but Hed Kandi continues to amaze me."
