CD Reviews

Mr. Hugg, please do a Volume 2....

"Where can you get sterling "old Soul" listening first track to last throughout, without hearing something overplayed? Worth the price for a great sounding version of Scott English (and The Accents)' "High On A Hill", a hit apparently in San Francisco and Pittsburgh only and then throw in other blue diamonds like The Van Dykes "You Have To Have Confidence" and The Delfonics' finest recording (yes!) "I Gave To You", and more, and...what are you waiting for? Don't be foolish and put this off till it out of print. For those who loved the old Soul of 1962-1965 years especially. Great Sunday night listening.Dick Hugg, do a volume two, and rescue songs like these from total obscurity: "This Is My Prayer" by Theola Kilgore, "Let Me Love You" by The Headliners, "It's No Good For Me" by Johnny Nash, "Really Really Love You" by Ronnie Walker (Mercury), "Purple Raindrops" by Stevie Wonder (flip ofUptight), "My Love Is A Charm" by The Shirelles, "You're Living In A Dream World" by The Continental IV, and so on."
Something I Want to Tell You

"I bought this for one rare song, "Something I Want to Tell You".

I'm a collector of old & rare songs, and was surprised to find that Huggy Boy had it. Most Various Artists CDs have nothing but common & trite songs, but this one added new songs to my collection. My only gripe is that CDs with only slow whiney songs bore me after a while. There needs to be some up beat songs that makes your head bob and your fingers snap. There are none here. But the one rare song I wanted made this CD worth the price."

"The best C.D. ever made! EVER! But i seen in some of the other reviews that people were asking for a vol.2 Well there is a volume 2!!!! With songs like "Be thankful for what u got (the rare extended version)" by William De Vaughn,"I love you more" by Lee Williams & the Cymbals,"Dont be afraid" by Frankie Karl,"I want to get married" by the Delicates,"Seems like i gotta do wrong" by the Whispers and lots more!! BUT its always been really hard to find for some reason! and definatly cant find it online! The best place to find it would haveto be the SWAPMEETS! Where they sell all them gangster oldie C.D.s! the actual name of the cd is "Huggy Boy Presents... Whittier Blvd. Oldies" Its been out since '99 though so hopefully its still in print. Good luck finding it!Its definately worth the search! And if HUGGY BOY sees this and puts out a vol. 3 please put the songs "Come back baby come back" the original by Roddie Joy NOT thee Midnighters,"I lost my love in the big city" by the Elgins,"Six months, three weeks, two day and an hour" by the Sharps,"My babys gone,on on" and "My babys gone and left me" by Johnnie & Joe,"Lee goofed" by Shirley & Lee, "My conscience" by the Lovelites and soo many more! Too many to name!"
