Amazon.com"The past gives up its treasures to anyone willing to listen." Amen, brother, to this little bit of liner-note wisdom accompanying the "Son of Groove Jammy." DJ-producer Mocean Worker has once again gone through the vaults of Muse Records, coming up with some '70s soul-jazz gems, revealing the roots of acid jazz on this slightly left-of-center compilation. Well, they're here in all their cosmic funkiness on "Celestial Bodies," featuring the great tenorist Odean Pope on some 'Trane-like spiraling amid shakers and bells. Following that, guitarist Grant Green does "High Heel Sneakers" real funky-like with Big John Patton on acid-groove organ and, well, you get the picture. These folks know their treasure troves.
